Man United vs Man City Player Ratings

Manchester City are through to the FA Cup Final at the expense of Manchester United after a narrow 1-0 victory.

Manchester United

Edwin van der Sar - 6

Pull off an amazing save from Balotelli's rocket outside the box, but could not do anything about Toure's finish between his legs for City's match winner.

John O'Shea (84' off) - 5.5

Was left stranded everytime Kolarov and Silva came streaming forward and unlike Evra, O'Shea seemed too fearful of going forward.

Rio Ferdinand - 6

The overpriced defender kept things simple at the back but struggled to keep up with the pace of the City attack.

Nemanja Vidic - 7.5

What would United do without this man in the lineup? His tackling was spot on and ensured he was always first to the ball. He just lacked that extra yard of pace which allowed Toure to nip in through on goal for City's winner.

Patrice Evra - 6.5

Had the legs to run up and down the flanks and never let Johnson out of his sight.

Antonio Valencia (64' off) - 5

Should have been taken off earlier as Kolarov had him for breakfast. Could not get into the game at all, especially when he clearly lacked support from his right-back.

Paul Scholes - 5

A man of his experience should know better than to make a challenge like he did in such an important game, especially when tackling isn't his forte. De Jong and Barry ensured he did not have any breathing space in the middle of the park.

Michael Carrick - 4

Must have worn the wrong pair of boots in this game as his passing was simply disastrous. His superb "assist" for Toure's goal might have just cost United the treble.

Park Ji-Sung - 6.5

"Three-lung Park" worked his socks off as usual but at this time of the year, the number of matches in a week can take its toll.

Nani - 7

Looked lively from the kick off, and made the City defence uneasy with his blistering pace. Took a free kick reminiscent of CR7, and forced a brilliant save from Hart. Probably the only player who performed in a red shirt.

Dimitar Berbatov (73' off) - 3

Wasted chance after chance to put United ahead in the first half. His name would definitely be in the hall of shame in the "miss of the decade" competition, together with Nwankwo Kanu's miss against Middlesbrough a few seasons back.

Subs

Javier Hernandez (64' on) - 6

No one can fault him for his performance in this game but why Fergie started with only one striker upfront remains a mystery.

Anderson (73' on) - 5

Saw him spin around on the ground as though he'd got shot a few minutes after his introduction, and that's about all he did in the game.

Fabio (84' on)

Manchester City

Joe Hart - 8

Kept City alive in the competition with saves from Berbatov in the first half and a second half free kick from Nani. England's undisputed number one keeper.

Pablo Zabaleta - 7.5

The two full backs were terrific in this game, virtually error-free and ensured the United wingers did not cause too many problems for his team.

Vincent Kompany - 8

Unforunately, his fabulous strike on the edge of the penalty area whizzed past the post otherwise it would have been a special goal for him. An irreplaceable figure in the heart of City's defence.

Joleon Lescott - 6

Played in his preferred position beside Kompany and did a decent job. With Kompany doing all the work, Lescott had a relatively easy game, until the introduction of Hernandez, who gave him a bigger headache than Berbatov did.

Aleksandar Kolarov - 8

Superb left back defensive display from this man as he silenced Valencia and provided width for City on the left.

David Silva - 6

Kolarov did a better job going forward than Silva, who seemed to be closely marked and looked lost at times.

Gareth Barry - 7

Was not content with City just being into the semi-finals, and possessed the desire and drive to that ensures his team will be in the final as well.

Nigel De Jong - 6.5

Although his tackling has toned down significantly, his game play has not changed at all and he put in a few important tackles for his team.

Yaya Toure - 9

Not known for his finishing, Toure showed immense strength as he shrugged Vidic off and put the ball between Van Der Sar's legs. Had another goal scoring opportunity in stoppage time but Vidic did well to put him off balance.

Adam Johnson (78' off) - 6

Not the best of performances from Johnson as he was starved of the ball. City's wide players were easily cut out by the United defenders in this game.

Mario Balotelli - 6.5

Super Mario seemed to be on a different wavelength from his team mates on a few occasions but made up for it with his hard work. Managed to stay out of trouble, till the final whistle where he was approached by angry United players.

Subs

Shaun Wright-Phillips (78' on) - 6

Made the tired United players chase his fresh legs and showed he still had some pace left in him.

Patrick Vieira (85' on)
