Redknapp feels bound to Tottenham

Harry Redknapp promised not to "leave Tottenham in the lurch" as his side demolished Newcastle 5-0 on Saturday.

Redknapp was immediately installed as the favourite to succeed Fabio Capello as England manager after the Italian's resignation on Wednesday evening.

Saturday's sparkling display, with fans chanting Redknapp's name throughout, will do little to dampen the FA's enthusiasm, while striker Emmanuel Adebayor admitted England's need is greater.

But Redknapp told ESPN: "They've been great to me since I've been here, the fans, I've enjoyed every minute at Tottenham. It's gone well for me here and I think we all appreciate each other.

"Things are going well, we've just got to keep focusing on the next game. We've got some great games to come.

"If it ever happened and I got the offer you'd have to consider that, but at the moment I'm just focusing purely on Tottenham.

"I'm not going to leave them in the lurch. Everyone's been great to me, it's going well here and we've just got to keep going."
