Serie A Team of the Week 32
Week 32 of the Serie A saw Inter Milan end a tough week with a win in Serie A while rivals AC Milan won as well.
Jean Francois Gillet (Bari)
Serie A's rock-bottom side Bari don't have much to smile about these days but on Sunday their goalkeeper Jean Francois Gillet put in a fighting display which saw them hang on for a needed point against Catania.
With the scores at 1-1, Gillet prevented the Sicilians from winning the game with a string of saves - his finest prevented Alejandro Gomez in the 63rd minute.
Maicon (Inter Milan)
Inter Milan ended a horror week on a high with a 2-0 win over Chievo. Leonardo's side have been leaking goals recently, including five in the Champions League against Schalke. However, they kept a clean sheet on Saturday in Serie A with Maicon a key figure at the back. The Brazilian capped his performance with Inter's second killer goal.
Andrea Dossena (Napoli)
Napoli kept up the heat on Serie A leaders AC Milan with an efficient 2-0 victory at mid-table Bologna on Sunday. Bologna gave full-back Andrea Dossena too much space and his crosses were a concern for their defenders.
Thiago Silva (AC Milan)
AC Milan re-established a three-point lead at the top of Serie A with a 2-1 win at Fiorentina. Thiago Silva shored things up in defence after team-mate Zlatan Ibrahimovic saw red and 10-man Milan hung on for the points.
Juan (AS Roma)
Udinese's hopes of playing in the Champions League next season were dealt a blow with a narrow 2-1 loss to Roma. The centre-back looked sharp against the tricky Antonio Di Natale and came out of the game with a lot of credit.
Esteban Cambiasso (Inter Milan)
Inter Milan eased to 2-0 win over Chievo in Serie A at the weekend.
In the 66th minute Esteban Cambiasso set Inter on their way to a morale boosting result following defeats to AC Milan and Schalke. His shot from Maicon's pass took a deflection, and opposing goalkeeper Stefano Sorrentino could only push the ball up against the underside of the crossbar on its way in.
Clarence Seedorf (AC Milan)
AC Milan continued their slow march to the Serie A title with a 2-1 win over Fiorentina at the weekend. The Rossoneri scored first through a Clarence Seedorf special.
The veteran Dutch midfielder, who was wearing the captain's armband in the absence of Gennaro Gattuso, hit a dipping volley into the top left-hand corner to score.
Francesco Totti (AS Roma)
AS Roma captain Francesco Totti continued his impressive performances under new manager Vincenzo Montella. Italy's golden boy scored a brace to beat Udinese 2-1 and dampen their opponent's hopes of playing Champions League football next season.
A penalty from Francesco Totti in the 57th minute put the Giallorossi in front, and Totti's second with the final kick of the game broke Udinese's hearts.
Luca Toni (Juventus)
Luca Toni scored a late winner to earn Juventus a 3-2 win against his former club Genoa. Toni was key in so many of Juve's attacks and it was only right that he got the final word - he shrugged off the attentions of Dario Dainelli before lifting the ball past Eduardo in the Genoa goal.
Alexandre Pato (AC Milan)
AC Milan striker Alexandre Pato fired his side past Fiorentina with what proved to be the winning goal. The Brazilian scored Milan's second in the 41st minute, adding the finishing touch from seven yards to a move which involved both Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Kevin-Prince Boateng.
Milan win 2-1!
Hernanes (Lazio)
Lazio leapfrogged Udinese to go fourth in Serie A with a comfortable 2-0 victory over Parma to spoil Franco Colomba's first match in charge. Hernanes put the Romans ahead midway through the first half before substitute Sergio Floccari made it 2-0 with 13 minutes remaining.
The midfielder's dynamic play was too much for the Parma players to handle.
