Morales: I've done it the right way
Mexican great Erik Morales says he's in top form for his return to the ring against Jose Alfaro on Saturday.
'El Terrible' retired in 2007 following an unsuccessful world lightweight challenge against David Diaz.
But the 33-year-old (48-6) has now decided to return, with a clash against Alfaro in Mexico the first step.
Despite fighting at welterweight on Saturday, Morales has had to shed plenty of weight in readiness for his comeback, but says he's done it the right way.
"Losing so much weight in recent months isn't going to affect me. For two and one-half months we worked a lot on the technical issues but we also made the best effort trying to achieve peak physical condition. I also mean that I was six months into the plan to establish a steady weight loss and here are the results. We planned to work hard to get into top form and I reached it."
Morales claims Alfaro will provide a stiff test on his return to the ring, but says he's ready for the challenge.
"This is a good match against Alfaro. We know that he is very strong, but that's why we wanted to fight someone like him," said Morales.
"I will not defraud anyone, let alone myself, and this is the optimal test. I will be the strongest, smartest and most experienced in the ring against Alfaro."
