
A winning start for India on day 3
India made a winning start on Day 3 of the Badminton Asia Championships with unseeded Anup Sridhar winning against Ye Wook Rho of Korea 16-21 21-13 21-8 in the first round of the main draw.
Sridhar will face Chong Chieh Lok of Malaysia in Round 2 today. Seeded 16th, Arvind Bhat got the better of Bikash Shrestha of Nepal in straight sets 21-14 21-11 to make it to the second stage of the knockout round. Bhat takes on Ji Hoon Hong of Korea in Round 2 today.
Unseeded Ajay Jayram also gave a good fight to 11th seed Yan Kit Chan of Hong Kong winning the first of the best of three matches 21-14. He however lost the next two 21-13, 21-17.
Saina Nehwal, Tripti Murgunde, P Kashyap and mixed doubles pair Jawla Gutta and V Diju also feature in the seocnd half of the first day of the main draw.
