NHL: 18 straight wins for Detroit
The Detroit Red Wings made it 18 consecutive home wins with a 4-2 victory over the Edmonton Oilers, moving to within two of the NHL record.
Drew Miller and Henrik Zetterberg scored in the third period as the Red Wings closed in on a home best set by the Boston Bruins in the 1929-30 season and matched by Philadelphia in 1976.
Johan Franzen and Cory Emmerton also scored for Detroit, but Sam Gagner answered with a pair of goals to tie the game to make it eight goals and six assists in four games.
But Miller and Zetterberg were on target to keep the Red Wings on course for the record.
Ryan Miller made 36 saves for earn his second shutout in three games as the Buffalo Sabres beat the Northeast Division-leading Boston Bruins 6-0.
With his coach Lindy Ruff nursing three broken ribs and watching from the press box, Miller was on form, in stark contrast to Tuukka Rask who was pulled inside 22 minutes after allowing three goals in 10 shots. His replacement Tim Thomas gave up three goals from 19 shots.
Jason Pominville scored twice, set up both times up by Ville Leino, and Tyler Ennis had a goal and assist.
Drew Stafford, Christian Ehrhoff and Patrick Kaleta also scored for Buffalo, while Boston's Milan Lucic had a goal disallowed for interference.
The Anaheim Ducks earned a second straight victory with a 3-2 win over the Carolina Hurricanes as All-Star Corey Perry scored at 2:14 of overtime.
The Ducks made it eight wins from 11 as they defeated the last-place Hurricanes.
Perry tripped Jussi Jokinen as the Hurricanes left wing was taking the puck from behind the net but when no penalty was given Perry scored on an assist by Sheldon Brookbank.
Despite twice leading the Hurricanes lived up to their billing as the East's worst team as they allowed to win from behind.
The Calgary Flames were 4-3 winners over San Jose Sharks as Olli Jokinen made the most of a turnover by Colin White to break a third-period tie with his third goal of the game.
Jokinen also assisted on Jarome Iginla's second-period goal to help Miikka Kiprusoff earn his 300th NHL win and end San Jose's five-game winning streak in the series.
Logan Couture, Joe Pavelski and Michal Handzus scored for the Sharks.
